Summary

Children are born full of curiosity, eager to participate in the world。 They learn as they live, with enthusiasm and joy。 Then we send them to school。 We stop them from playing and actively exploring their interests, telling them it's more important to sit still and listen。 The result is that for many children, their motivation to learn drops dramatically。 The joy of the early years is replaced with apathy and anxiety。

This is not inevitable。 We are socialised to believe that schooling is synonymous with education, but it's only one approach。 Self-directed education puts the child back in control of their learning。 This enables children, including those diagnosed with special educational needs, to flourish in their own time and on their own terms。 It enables us to put wellbeing at the centre of education。

Changing Our Minds brings together research, theory and practice on learning。 It includes interviews with influential thinkers in the field of self-directed education and examples from families alongside practical advice。 This essential guide will give you an understanding of why self-directed education makes sense, how it works, and what to do to put it into action yourself。

This would make a good movieI was very drawn into the plot and trying to solve the mystery。 I found myself picking actors/actresses for the various parts as I know I would have enjoyed this as a movie。

Figured out who the killer was early in the book。 I did not see the plot twist near the end。 Kept me interested。 New author to me。

Just couldn’t finish

Tangled web。 Child abused because abuser。 Love , family loyalty, redemption。

Great imagery and story line Story line was great, unique 。 Unusual in each chapter was a characters point of view in the storytelling。 Imagery was well done。

Story was good。 Not overly spellbinding, but enjoyable enough to read。

I loved this book! I devoured it every second I had available。 How does a 13 year old mystery and a recent murder connect? Does it at all? I kept going back and forth in my ideas of what happened and who was involved。 I was kept on my toes the entire time and I loved every second of it

Enjoyed this quick readI was pulled into this story from the beginning and found myself trying to solve the “who done it”。 Glad I selected this as my First Read book for March。 Highly recommend

Good readGood read。 Small town talk and family darkness。 It seemed flat in some places and the plot really didn't give me much。 Good readGood read。 Small town talk and family darkness。 It seemed flat in some places and the plot really didn't give me much。 。。。more

Not One of Us is set in the bayou of Alabama where the mysterious disappearance of an entire family resonates into new crimes well over a decade later。 Jori has returned home to care for her failing grandmother and her autistic brother。 For years she has mourned the sudden disappearance of her boyfriend, Deacon, and his parents。 Now with so much changing in her life and new crimes abounding, she wonders if she can make sense of the past and find solace in the present。

Kindle Unlimited Audiobook。 Actually probably a 3。5。 I enjoyed the story。 I like books set in the south that don’t stereotype southerners。 Also, the narrators did a pretty good job not exaggerating the accents。 Pretty good story lineI also like the portrayal of autism and the fact that the main character had synesthesia but didn’t make constant mention of it, just mentioned a few times throughout the book

Great murder mysteryThis author has capture the emotions so well。 Her descriptions are so well written that you can feel this through the written word。 Then the mystery。 Surprise!!

Tami Boreman

Amazing read, can almost smell the bayou。 And seriously scary to see the lengths people go to, to protect secrets

Born True Bethea

It was a ok mystery。 The problem was you kinda knew who was the killer half way through。

Slightly suspenseful, and totally goodSuspense scares me。 This was just enough to keep me from being terrified of all the creeking noises in my house, but still had me giving them sideways glances。

A great read! This had me from beginning to end。 So well crafted and excellent character development。 I did figure out the killer before it was revealed, but there was a twist at the end that I did not see coming! I will read more of her books。

Jori was a very unlikeable character who just plowed ahead doing whatever she felt like and to Hell with the consequences or who got hurt。 There actually weren't any likeable characters now that I think of it。 Anyway, lots of people like the book so read it if you want。 I don't recommend it。 。。。more

Thought this book was interesting as well as a good mystery。 I usually guess who is the bad guy but in this story I did not see it。 Found that mystery refreshing。

Rating 4。5!This was another very good book。 I didn't give it 5 stars bc i just finished a 5 star and that book was a little bit better than this one。 I had a tiny bit of trouble at the first part of the book。 I couldn't keep the characters straight。 However, i caught on after reading further。 Pieces started coming together, the closer towards the ending。This book did have twists and turns and surprises that kept me interested。 It was a murder mystery with a number of good and bad choices made by Rating 4。5!This was another very good book。 I didn't give it 5 stars bc i just finished a 5 star and that book was a little bit better than this one。 I had a tiny bit of trouble at the first part of the book。 I couldn't keep the characters straight。 However, i caught on after reading further。 Pieces started coming together, the closer towards the ending。This book did have twists and turns and surprises that kept me interested。 It was a murder mystery with a number of good and bad choices made by the characters。 I do recommend this book。 。。。more

IntriguingI like this book because it had so many different aspects to it。 There was autism and dementia and condition the main character had wishes all colors and associate them with peoples speech。 That was very interesting and there was so many different twist to the story that I really had a nice time going back to it and wondering what was gonna happen next。 I was surprised at the end and that’s always a good thing。

It had me on the edge of my seatThis book had me wanting to continue reading it without stopping。 I enjoyed all the characters and the storyline。 It was to see women as strong and leading the storyline。 Joel was a fighter and love that she wanted what was best for her family。 Rehab was also a strong character and only wish there was more background on her 。
